Default Whats your color?

I can safely say that I have grown over a 100 varieties now. I know that's not a huge number by any means. But I find myself more and more fond of GWR varieties. I don't think I've grown one I didn't like yet! If I asked myself this question a year or two ago I would have answered pinks. But I have really grown to love GWR's. Such as Green Giant and Cherokee Green. Generally speaking what is your favorite color of tomato??

Purple/Black - Carbon, Black from Tula, Black Krim. Nothing is better than a good Carbon! (But Captain Lucky or Ananas Noire are close seconds)...

for fresh eating, I love all colors. Particularly blacks are my favorite but for cooking, I like pinks and reds. Although the flavor may be great, I can't get my family to like tomatoey sauces etc. that are not red.
I have not eaten many GWR, only green zebra but I have couple growing this year, absinthe and Dwarf emerald giant which I am looking forward to trying.

Damon. I and some others have been surprised that the fad for the dark colored varieties has lasted so long but several yars ago I know some of us predicted that the GWR would become the new fad and that has happened.

And i've grown a LOT of GWR to date and will continue to do so b'c like you, there's not, with a few exceptions, one that I don't like.

The spicy sweetness I love and I'm waiting for Reinhard Kraft in Germany to release one or both of the two lines of GWR hearts that he's been working on.

Now there's a combo that can't be beat, a GWR heart.

If I'm looking for a new tomato to try, I lean toward pinks and purples. But I'm color-blind when it comes to which tomatoes I like best. Each year it's different, since I grow different ones, but my favorites (top 2 or 3 each year) have run the gamut: orange, black, pink, red, yellow, green, striped, heart, cherry, paste, canner, large, small.

Carolyn I've been hearing too long from you about this green heart! I've been waiting patiently but to no avail! Lol Jk. Anyway please put me on your 'first to share seeds with' list please.

As a side note I found yet another GWR (Green Giant) mystery cross last year. I'm growing 6 f2's out this year and all but one are throwing heart shapes! Just sampled my first one tonight (not totaly ripe but close) and guess what?? It appears to be a bi-color GWR heart! And it tasted great too! Jfyi

Anyway good to see you back and posting again and I hope you feel better soon.

Your heart buddy,
Damon

It's not really a color per se, but I gravitate towards striped/zebra tomatoes.

i like all colors and just love telling people who think all tomatoes are red about all the different colors of tomatoes. this year i am growing rio grande, a striped(gold stripes on red/orange) that is just beautiful. i must admit that the GWR tomatoes and the blacks are soooo good. it is so hard to pick just one.

I love cultivars of all colors, but I would have to give the slight edge to oranges. Sungold, Jaune Flamme, and Kellogg's Breakfast are definitely in my top 5!

One of the reasons I grow tomatoes is to have yellow ones.
