Default Guincho Negro

Very beautiful flowers of good size. The plant is quite tall and spindly. The tubers were round, and black with deep eyes and bright yellow centers I believe.

The spelling should be Guincho Negra

Quote:
Dark purple-fleshed tubers from the
cultivar 704429-Guincho Negra contained
exceptionally high levels of total anthocyanins (16.33
mg g-1 of DW). Using HPLC-mass spectrometry, the
main anthocyanin was identified as petanin
(petunidin-3-p-coumaroyl-rutinoside-5-glucoside).

The photograph I saw online shows this clone to be quite blue/black inside.
See page four of http://course.ku.ac.th/lms/files/res...achiraporn.pdf

I requested this clone to use in breeding because I wanted varieties with known nutritional values. The phenols are incredibly important in plant breeding but I have the anthocyanins beat with my Negro Y Azul...tested by Washington labs.

I hope Wingnut is using this as a female and male parent. Crosses to Black Irish and other blues would be nice, Doug.

I recall now that it was a dark purple/black interior. I plan to take pics of all the tubers this fall.
