Some Kentuckians are fond of mixing Ale-8-One with one of the commonwealth's many bourbons, such as Maker's Mark, Wild Turkey, or Buffalo Trace. This has been named the "Kentucky Cocktail", and it is a signature drink at some Kentucky establishments such as the Marriott Griffin Gate resort in Lexington and The Brown Hotel in Louisville.[3][4][5]
Ale-8 is also often mixed with vodka, with the resulting concoction known as a "Tender Lovin'".[6] Seagram's Seven and Ale-8 are mixed to produce Kentucky Beer.[7]

I don't have any BLT worthy tomatoes yet, but last night all this talk about bread finally got me to dig my horribly neglected sourdough starter out of the back of the fridge. It has been sitting untouched and unfed for about a year in a 2 lb ricotta cheese container with a tiny slit cut in the lid. The starter itself is now five years old.

It didn't have any mold or off smells, so I scooped most of it into a bowl and fed it with flour and water. Tonight it's starting to bubble away and it's very much still alive and healthy!

This coming week I'll start working on some BLT worthy bread in anticipation of that first BLT.

I love Fresh Squeezed IPA, one of my favorites. I hear their Pinedrops is also good but havent found it around here yet.

Yes Pinedrops is awesome as well. I'd probably have been drinking one of those but I finished them already. We've finally been seeing Bells show up out here at some of our micro brew bars in SoCal, good stuff. I grew up in Michigan, Westland actually, but left long ago and never really had Bells before I left.

There's another Jack Elam image that I would post, but I don't think the tender sensibilities would appreciate it.
