Some place in Round Rock or Pflugerville. But not Berts Dirts. I believe she got a load from Berts Dirts and said it was garbage and spread it out on the lawn. The stuff they used was 50% compost and50% sandy loam and it worked great. Don't buy some of these peoples so called garden soil unless they can give you the PH of the soil. As a matter of fact I would insist on the 50 50 mixture. I think she must have gotten 2 10 yard truck loads. It has been awhile since I have seen or heard from her. Worth |

Worth,
I think I will try Gardenville. I have used the rose soil from Natural gardener and some from Geo Growers. I'm starting in a new location in my neighbors yard. It's been fallow for a couple of years. I can't wait for this weekend! Warmth! |

I'm afraid I did not have good luck with GardenVille. The plants I put in their "Manure Compost" showed signs of herbicide damage. Also, the broken glass and wire in the mix didn't make me like them any more. Another user on here "Checker Kitty" had a more of a problem than I did with herbicide, although I don't know what type of compost she purchased there. It completely ruined her crop last year. I'm staying away from there unless I need generic dirt to fill holes in the yard.
I have had excellent luck at The Natural Gardner, but they are more expensive than GardenVille. You get what you pay for. I've purchased four different types of compost from NaturalGardner and I have been very impressed with every one of them. Last edited by ArcherB; February 15, 2014 at 03:14 PM. |

Thanks everyone. I may try Natural Gardner and Geo Growers. NG is less than 5 miles from me. Easy peasy and I'm always broke

Snappy-My wife and I are living in SA now. I can't tell from your last post where you are purchasing now.

I purchase my compost from Keller Materials, my raised bed soil when I need it from Gardenville & my seed starting mix from Fannick's Garden Center.
