Blondkopfchen vs. Sunsugar

I grow sunsugar every year...it's a big hit with friends and family.

It's the only hybrid tomato that I grow.

Just wondering how Blondkopfchen compares to Sunsugar on sweetness and taste?

I run out of seeds so fast with the Sunsugar that if Blondkopfchen was similar I might switch!

No comparison.

I grow both most years. BK will be most productive but is no way as sweet and fruity as SS. BK is a nice yellow cherry but nothing much compares to the taste of SS.

I think Galinas might have more flavor than BK but is still not as fruity as SS.

Something that might be a bit different to try would be Green Doctors. I grew it last year and was afraid it would be a bit 'tart' for my taste. But it was great. Different than SS but good too.

Four years ago I grew SunSugar and Galinas next to each other, and they looked and tasted very similar. The main difference was the yield -- about 40 percent more from Galinas. But SunSugar got a little less sun than Galinas.

I'm going to try Dr. Carolyn this year, which is a lighter-yellow cherry selected from Galinas.

I might give Galina's a try this season.

I would love to find a variety that is similar to sunsugar that I can save seeds from!
