My big ones are barely starting to color up.
Best one is Black from Tula. Other than that, I've only had a few cherries. Is your garden way ahead of mine? |

Nice Work ! It sure is great to have ones special "private stock " of seeds available as some varieties become difficult to find .....depending on the year .. Today .....I process some 2017 seeds for Dwarf Pink Passion Black Cherry Matina BuckBee (Tatiana's one) AND give a bunch of fruit away .....LOL and process more ...

So far only Hardin's Miniature, Post Office Spoonful, and Anna Maria's Heart have been processed. This is a VERY late year for my plants, so I am still waiting on Keepsake, Medova Kaplya, Orange Russian 117, Orange Strawberry, Dotson's Lebanese Heart, Black Cherry, and Tommy Toe.
Today I drag gallons of frozen tomatoes out of the freezer and Mum & I make tomato soup. Mmm... Wish us luck; it's our first ever attempt at 'mater soup. Black Bear, as I understand it you garden in containers and you have at least 52 varieties??? That's a lotta pots! Nan |

I'm amazed! Of my 100 kinds, chosen because they are earlies, I have had tomatoes from 14, and sometimes only one so far.
Is all of Nanaimo blessed with good tomato growing conditions? Maybe I need to rent a plot up there - it's less than two hours to drive and sounds like I could pick all I need in one or two trips. |

For me it kind of was a crappy season in some ways ..... very late spring ..I delayed everything being placed out ..... and then It was ridiculous record breaking hot and even ...SMOKE ...from the The Record B.C. Forest fires ....smoking even us out on the coast ...even Seattle ! I am Gravitating to container gardening ...but miss a big ground plot. I don't know what to say .....I am giving much away .....the dedicated Freezer is filling up ....I am eating Tomatoes intregrated in every meal (just about ). the Last couple of days I have continued to collect the seeds as well and oxyclean treat for the private stock 2017 : Venus , Hahm's Gelbe , Roza Vetrov, Yaponskiy Karlik , Sophie's Choice , Red Dwarf , Bonte Tigerette , Bloody Butcher . I am getting close to just enjoying the rest of the season and the Seed collecting tasks will be finished ...pheeewww !

I am a little north of Black Bear and I too have been getting lot of tomatoes from my 18 varieties (under 40 plants) container grown. As Bear says, a mixed up season to start with but hot and dry for a long while now. Lots given away and have been canning them too.
I found that this year they ripened weeks later than in previous years, even last year which was a cooler wetter summer. Some of mine are going to finish early due to powdery mildew. The figs were a full month later than in the last few years, too. Apples are dropping early due to the dryness. Every year is different. |

Just a little advice, please fold those paper towels to a pocket with the seeds in it so no seed can escape and mix with others. They will dry fine inside the pocket.
