Retirement!!!!
Yesterday was my last day of work!!!Day 1 will be enjoying my grandchildren and playing catch with my 6 year old grandson.I'm sure my granddaughter who is 4 will also be included.Love it!!!!!!!.Now will have time to expand my garden, get back to my cycling and get in shape again. My friend called yesterday and asked me to help him drive his car to The Villages in Florida where he just bought a new home last fall.Cycling and sunshine awaits!!!Invited to stay as long as I want!!I think the wife likes the idea as she thinks I have a plan to drive her crazy. So far it seems to be working

Yay! I know when my hard-working parents retired, it was like the shackles had fallen off and they lived their lives with gusto, taking fishing trips everywhere together. (My mother is on a Canadian brochure, a tiny woman holding a particularly large northern pike.) May you have every bit as much fun.

When I finally retired 11 years ago, my blood pressure went down enough that my doctor took me off of the pressure pills and a couple of others.
I can honestly say that retiring is not a good thing. No, it's actually WONDERFUL !!!! I highly recommend it. But don't try to do everything at once. The danger is that you'll have too many irons in the fire and that can lead to frustration. Perhaps make a bucket list of things and then pick one and just get full of that one thing. Also, learn how to tell friends and relatives "NO". They all have a tendency to want to help you manage your time. Be a bit selfish about it. They all found other ways to get their needs taken care of before (baby sitting, errands, etc.). Don't rush to finish things. Enjoy the processes - the memory feedback of just being there and participating. Stay curious and learn something new every day. And finally, make it a regular practice to sleep in. When the mood hits, just be lazy. It's good for the soul. Take care and I'll add my congratulations on reaching that point where you can, if you wish, without fear of consequences or retribution, tell someone somewhere to "take that job and shove it."

Congrats on your retirement!
You don't go to work and they pay you anyway. If there is a problem with that, I don't see it. I've retired twice. Once as a public school teacher and once for just being old. |
