Default Elmers Old German

First time writing. I have a new (for me) variety. It is Elmers Old German. The plants are loaded with very large fruits. How do I tell when they should be picked?

I'm also growing Elmer's Old German for the first time this year. None have turned ripe for me yet, but they're listed as a pink beefsteak so watch for them to change color. Tatiana's Tomato Base lists them as mid season, but Tomatofest (where I bought my seeds) says they're 85 days to maturity which sounds like a late season variety to me.

Thanks Irv,
I also got my seeds at Tomatofest. I have one that is at least 3 pounds. Tthe plants each have at least 8 fruit and all are large. I am in Ohio and these were set out in May.

Hi there!

I am also growing this variety for the first time this year. I also got my seeds from Tomatofest.

Nothing close to red yet on mine, however completely loaded with good size fruit. Strong, tall looking plant. Really excited and hoping this one is a keeper!
