Dotson’s Lebanese Heart

Beautiful and perfect even that huge. awesome
That big one pictured is definitely still a heart.
Very normal to have variation in shape and normal for the first settings to be larger than later ones with any large tomato.

Here is a pic of two Dotson's I picked this morning along with a purple heart from a dwarf project variety... unfortunately, I have very few tomatoes on my plant but what is there is big. These are the 2 and 3 to ripen. The first one I picked did have a heart shape to it-these do not- and big as well but the inside was mostly white splotchy areas and did not taste very good, I saved seeds of that one since I read the white is caused by weather. The plant given to a friend did not survive. I will grow the Dotson's again next year since this year the nights have been unusually cold. My plant has had purple leaves consistently since I planted it out...

Rhoder, those are pretty tomatoes right there! They will start tasting better as you move further up the plant. Here is a picture of one of the blunt ones at the bottom of my plant from 2017, and another from the top of the plant.

Darin, they are pretty-except for the cracking-I should have picked them earlier, and they are large. I haven't checked the weight but I'm sure close to 1LB. Largest tomatoes in my garden. The tomatoes in the pic you posted look incredible!

Marsha- I have only 200 or so seeds at the moment- I didn't save any from this year. I will most definitely use next year's crop for seed production. If it is not a large number of folks, I'll be happy to send out what I have.

"We" meaning one of my seed producers, did the original seed production for Darin, and he noted who that was in his initial seed offer for the Dotson one at Tville.

We,meaning another private group I belong to decided to not distribute seeds of Omar's Lebanese Heart, although that was initially the intent.

Yes,I still have seeds here at home for Omar's Lebanese Heart and no,I have no intention whatsoever of sending any of them re requests.

Enough is enough, say I and quite a few others, not to be named.

I have a plant going with lots of green hearts yet to come in. I didn't bag any blossoms, but I would be happy to save and share seed with any who ask, including some of my original seed from Darin a few years ago. I don't have tons, but I would be willing to share with anyone in need.

It's the least I can do after all the generosity shown me over the years.

Thanks for doing that since I couldn't for lots of good reasons, one is still getting out seeds to several for next year, actually two sets of seeds.

Most importantly,though,is the unexpected appearance of a couple of medical issues.

Thank you JosephineRose, I think between yours and Darin's there should be enough. I wont be growing it this season, I have too many slots already filled up, plus my project tomatoes. I do still have some left. Darin, if you pm me your address, I will mail you those to shore up your supply.

Yes! I just sliced and ate one of the two in my photo and it was delicious! Darin, thank you for your generous sharing of the seeds, this is a great tomato!

Fantastic! Glad you are enjoying them. Nan has also noted that they make great green tomatoes too, although I've never cooked them at this stage.
