Tall pepper plant
Was just curious...what is the tallest bell pepper plant you have grown, seen or know of?
l have one that we measured this morning and it is 3 inches shy of being 6 feet tall AND it is still growing. Sorry but I'm not sure how to upload a photo |

I have never had huge peppers, but if you lead them on 2-4 stems like professionals do it, they go to pick them with a ladder, 4-5 meters tall.

I have a poblano thats near 6' tall but my bells barely reach that height, maybe 4-5' max, I'll keep note of that this year.

I had a King Of The North pepper plant get to about 7 feet, one year. The reason is that it was planted too close to the tomatoes, got shaded out, and then had to reach for the sun. I don't think I've ever had any other pepper plant get to half that height.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong; I've never had a pepper plant grow over 2'. Many are less!

I think if it hadn't been for the massive aphid infestation on my peppers this year most of them would be six feet or more but so far the tallest ones are only five to five and a half feet tall but they still have two or three months to grow some more. I have had bells get over 8 feet tall as long as the diseases and pests don't get to them too badly. The bell pepper varieties that have gotten the tallest over the years are Socrates, Revolution and King Arthur. I am trying some new varieties to me this year in hopes of having less BLS which has become a real problem here. I had a Giant Marconi reach around 12 feet one year. A long growing season really makes a difference in how tall peppers will get. Regular feeding and keeping pests and diseases at bay makes a huge difference also.
