It's all fun and games enjoying the dirt under the ole fingernails until you put your hand on that red paper wasp hiding in your borage plant you are thinning out.. I still have a mark from 3 weeks ago.
The good news.. I controlled myself and did not kill the wasp reflexivlybut rather opened my hand up so the scared little gal could escape to safety(As soon as she extracted her fire dagger out of my right index finger) Ouch ouch! lots of bad words for the neighbors to hear! So Now I think I will be wearing gloves when sticking my hands where I can't see them. http://insects.tamu.edu/fieldguide/cimg348.html

I ordered some of this for my hands. I'll report later how it works. I'm one of those who has to get his hands dirty when he works in the garden. Ami

If my garden hands do a really good job, I take them to Baskin-Robbins when they are done.

I have started doing a scrub of epsom salts and olive oil. My skin is incredibly soft afterward, and it is much cheaper than the commercial scrubs. A good bristle nail brush cleans up anything the salts don't get off.

tomatoguy,
Nice pics. Have your tomato hands ever picked strawberries? And, if so, is there then any room for Baskin-Robbins? Tormato |
