Default Picked 23 lbs. today

12 lbs. of Golden Bell from three plants and 11 lbs. of Pimento, Osmanzuo Kambe and Parnas.

Gorgeous peppers, Earl! What are you going to do with all those bells? Are you leaving your plants in or taking them out now?

I picked a lot of pimentos, too, along with cherries and some seasoning peppers. I had some problems with my frying peppers but was finally able to pick some the last part of the summer. I only grew one variety of hot pepper this year but had plenty of those off of just two plants. When Hanna came through, it broke some branches off some of my plants but I think I'll leave mine in the garden for a few more weeks. Overall, they look pretty healthy.

Default Your Peppers

Earl, Eleven pounds of Pimento Peppers, Wow! Are these from the seed I sent to you? Are you going to roast them and can/freeze them for Kathy's good Pimento Cheese?

We enjoy what Sweet Peppers we have by slicing them into rings and freeze them separately, then bag them for dishes later on.

I see my cardiologist on Monday for my Atrial fibulation.

I never thought of weighing my peppers. I might have to do that next year.

dcarch, I'd rather use the term "spitshine." :-)

John, the Kambe is great, good flavored, crunchy with solid thick walls.

Gary, the 11 lbs weren't all pimentos. Poundage included some Osmanzuo Kambe and Parnas, but mostly Pimentos. And yes, some were from the seeds you sent which did very well. I'll blister them with a torch, skin and freeze for making pimento cheese. Hope all turns out well with the Doc!

Picked over 8 lbs. of Early Jalapenos off 4 plants this morning, and one of the plants has to be a cross because the fruit are 2-3 times bigger. Will pickle some and dry some to grind into flakes/powder. Got lots of other peppers to also pick. Getting behind because of the few days of no electricity from those Hurricane Ike winds.

Nice batch of peppers! You'll really enjoy them this winter.

For some reason, none of my green Jalapenos were very productive this year (Early Jalapeno and Mucho Naucho) plants stayed small, bloomed late etc not like other years. There was enough, but no bumper crop.

The only ones that put out a major crop were the yellow Santa Fe Grande jalapenos. We did have a cooler than normal summer start this year, but hard to believe that the yellows would be any more more chill tolerant.
