Mine use to drool in my popcorn so I would give it all to him.
One time I ate the popcorn anyway and he made a groaning sound and walked off.

If I ever get another dog it will be a Doberman or a doberman mix.
I had a Doberman mix named Walter that we rescued, fantastic dog too.

All these dogs want to do is make you happy.

Oh yes I trained Dober the pure bred to pull me on roller skates all over the place.

I showed Dobermans, Japanese Chins and Smooth Fox Terriers both in obedience and conformation, the Saluki was only shown in conformation. Th first dog I ever had in obedience won a "heel off" over an utility level dog at her last obedience show and took op honors for that show in Obedience. That was Tarbaby, a lovely Dobe b, who was a special dog for me.

I used to advise people to not get a Dobe or Border Collie for a first ever dog. Both tend to be too smart and can create a bad time if the owners do not train them well and give them "work" to do.

That's the problem for me. Our yard is not big enough for a large dog. No room to run or play fetch or setup any training sets. Our last dog was a mixed queensland heeler and basenji and she was a very obedient dog. She lived until she was fourteen and died of stomach problems, caused by her anti siezure medication. I'm not really up to anymore animals though with my health issues of my own.

That is impressive. I have never showed, but my mother was big in Obedience with collies. UD is not obtained by accident or perseverance. Well done.

Thank you, Tarbaby and I were finishing "our" Novice A that show, so it really was a neat thing. She did wonderful.

Smooth or rough coated collies?

Rough collies, the kind with the broad heads before all the sense was bred out of them. Minor was her boy. Almost black and white. He was CDX and would have made UD with ease, had he not fallen through the ice in winter. After that the heart went out of her.

We had a dobie out of nessecity. One that walked my sister to the road to wait for the bus and once again to walk her from the road to the house. She did it faithfully everyday. We live in a time and place little girls weren't safe in the country. They are great dogs. Not all of them are as vicious as they are portrayed. Probably most of them.

In the '70's I adopted a border collie from the pound. People laughed when they saw him, Meshka, a gangly, spotty, teenager looking more like a hyena than a dog. He grew up to be a beautiful brindle and smarter than a lot of people I've met. In my absence, he once peed against the leg of someone who used to create problems for me in the neighbourhood.

One night when we went for a walk we came upon a possum lying at the edge of the road like so much road kill. When Meshka wanted to go closer I said no and he obeyed. When we came back home the possum had gone, it had only been playing possum after all.

Cute possum story.

Woohoo, had some possible buyers looking at the house next door this morning. Looked like two men with a real estate agent. I hope that house sells soon.

After moving to my new location, a rural setting I wanted to get a dog. About a month ago when I was around the garden, a young dog came and started showing affection. At first I told him "Go home !". But he didn't move. I gave him some food. He ate it at a blink. Gave him more food. Same thing. More food .. I was thinking that he will leave soon. But he didn't. So I bought food and supplies for him, took him to the vet for check up. The vet said that he is about a year old.
Well, long story short he became my Buddy and I call him BUDDY Boy.
Here is a picture of my buddy.

I had a dog named buddy. He was a mix and we aren't sure what he was, lol. He followed us home one day when we were on a bike rid. He wouldn't leave, he stayed at the front door so we brought him in and put him in the back yard. He jumped the fence and went back to the front door. We brought him in and tried to find his owner to no avail so we suddenly had a second dog. So that made two dogs and two cats. Not fun because I am stickler for keeping my house clean and when I have guests I don't want them to know I have a pet, let alone two dogs and two cats. We are down to one cat, the youngest of them all.. All lived to a ripe old age and she is now 14. She has 1sr stage renal failure so it won't be long before we have to let her go to. No more animals after this though. I just can't keep up with them like I want to anymore. Vacumming is not fun every day.

I think that you are right, Worth. I had no idea what mix Buddy had. The vet also could not provide a clue.
Buddy has brown ears (not very big ) and around the ears are brown too.
Then he has a patch of brown area just above the tail extending to right and left sides. Otherwise he is pure white.

here is a picture of a FH that I found on the net.
But BUDDY does not have that brown patch on his back. Also , beyond patches of brown , Buddy has pure white hair. But it might change a bit since he is very young.

Sorry for going off the topic with my dog tale.
I hope you Texans are recovering from the damages nicely.
