Thanks Lyn. I remember someone mentioning that about tomatoes and the lower sets of leafs. The tops seem very healthy so I'm hoping they are well.

I think my only enjoyment from being gone on business travel last week was watching seeing the growth upon return. But I was worried something would get at them. So far everything seems to be doing well besides the Amish snap peas.

Lettuce galore.

The turnips are doing fantastic. I think I will begin harvesting some if the greens as well as some baby turnips, sometime soon.

Decided I wanted to move which bed I plant lettuce in, to where the peas are. So I threw some seed between my turnip rows.

Thanks for looking. Now I just need to start the rest of my seed. Soo much work ( which is a good thing)

Thanks Gnome. I 'll be using some of the lettuce to make thai chicken wraps this weekend.

The peas have set flowers, so I should have some pods soon?

Hi, Crandrew,
very impressive.
I have some seeds of few salad varieties. Some one recommended to use tomato beds early in the spring before planting tomatoes to grow the salads. I may try it this year, but it is still cold here in New Jersey. Got to wait.

Deborah-Thanks It's nice to hear that. Last week was a bit of a rough one for me so its been nice to get back in the garden and see how much its grown.

Efisakov- Thanks, I sure love watching it grow. I had never grown salad mix or lettuce before and so far I love it. ITs quick, easy, the pests seem to leave it alone and its amazing fresh. The mixed greens and spinach are actually in my tomato bed from last season but since I'm rotating crop locations It will be my eggplant and pepper bed in a few weeks/months.

I picked and tried my first scarlet queen and Japanese turnips yesterday. Chopped up In a salad with some fresh strawberries and SSE mixed greens. It was awesome!
When eating raw, the Japanese turnip had less spiciness and the flavor was smother than the scarlet; both were equally good once in a salad with some balsamic and cranberries.
