Default 2017/2018 MMMM questions

This will be the thread for questions on varieties in the swap.

Please don't ask "When will I get my package?"

Bean question: does anyone know any history or details of Sylvano's pole snap? It doesn't have any representation online, as far as I can tell. Thanks!

Egg Yolk is a great name for a cherry tomato, I had to try a couple this year. Report at 11.

Sylvano's was sent to me by lakelady. If I remember correctly, it's a 100+ year old heirloom from NJ via Italy. A flat, green podded, black seeded, romano type bean.

In Marsha's picture thread you can find a pic of bacon lettuce etc. I couldn't find more info either. Not a variety name that works well in Google. Or rather too well.

Thanks for that. I had missed it in that thread. So it's a red potato leaf beefsteak.

Weinschnicht's Potato Leaf

Zaitsa

Too many consonants? Probably the variety is http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/W...%27s_Ukrainian

And I got the variety Zaitska in a different swap, labeled as a large red.

That's by design.

A question about these tomato seeds:
'(Experimental) 15X F3-2 RL '

Are they from the experiments with a multiflora micro?
Since they are F3, I assume there might still be no-micro's between them? And we will know only later if they are multiflora or not. I read on another forum that curled leaves on seedlings could predict the multiflora characteristic.

I had got Limbo from a German tomato friend, she herself had got it from Russia.

Det., RL. producing lots and lots of red tomatoes, mostly size of an egg. Some thinner, some a bit more round. I had it 2 years in a row and in both years, it was "terribly" prolific, lol! Can you imagine that I thought half a plant would be enough...? I did not prune it because it is said to be "bush" type. We have used it for all purposes: eating fresh, salad, sauce

Liliput is from Russia as well, I had bought the seeds in Estonia.

Det. RL, bigger red cherries, very prolific also, but not as prolific as Limbo.

Ann 123, old TV thread

11/12x-f3-3 PL plant#2. Small red cherry, tart-watery taste, was not impressed. Slight multiflora

14x-f3-1 RL plant#1. Cute micro plant, 6inches at this point, not multiflora though. Small red cherries, tart

14x-f3-1 RL plant#2. As above, cute micro plant, not multiflora at this point, small red cherries, tart

11x-f3-1 PL plant#3. Large micro plant 12 inches, medium red cherry, loved the sweet & tangy taste, but skins were very thick, would personally not grow just because of the thick skins myself. Rate the taste at a 8 though. Multiflora

11x-f3-1 PL plant#1. Large micro as above 12 inches, medium red cherry, multiflora, taste not, bad, but not as good as plant#3, wasn't as sweet to balance the tart. Thick skin again.

13x-f3-2 RL plant#4. Just picked a large, bordering on dark purple cherry, take that back, it looks like a black not, purple. Will finish ripening inside.By color thought it was ripe, but still slightly firm.

So far, even though I have not tasted the 13x-f3 7 or 2. They look the most promising. By the rlly dark green shoulders, most I would think will end up being purple, shapes are mostly beefsteaks and 1 plant looks like cherry hearts, but only time will tell. My most multiflora plant that looks to be on steroids from the multiflora cluster, is from 1 of the above 13x-f3 lines. Once the cherries start to get bigger, will take a picture to show.

All plants are very healthy, no disease.
