Thornless blackberries, of a less creepy variety (Ouachita). Blackberries aren't weeds here, we're safe . Too dry, they'll creep, I'm sure, but they shouldn't creep too far past the water line, and my fruit yard doesn't border my neighbor's yard, so they won't be angry.

I love a good bulletproof tomato - I have a few I've found do really well for me in my shorter season. Although I'm only growing one this year on that list, which is Silvery Fir Tree. Other tomato varieties I'm growing are Black Plum, Black Sea Man, El Nano, Guido, Hahm's Gelbe Topftomate, Orange Tree, Peasant, Platillo, Rumba Ozarowska, and Siniy.
Orange Tree, Peasant, Rumba Ozarowska and Siniy are all new to me. For peppers I'm doing Jimmy Nardello's, Golden Greek (for home made pepperoncinis!), Aji Chinchi Amarillo, and Hinkelhatz. I might fit a Czech Black if I can finagle it - all my peppers are in pots so finagling is definitely doable. And then a few bean varieties, Simonet corn (which was bred in my hometown here, first time growing it so I have high hopes!), potatoes, onions, broccoli, beets, 'Slocan' snow peas, turnips, carrots, zucchini. One day I'll find a melon that I can make work in my season. Some day.... *sigh*. None of my garlic made it last year, so I have some three year old bulbils I'm going to hopefully attempt to get going this year. I've never tried growing bulbils that old, and of course the year before I didn't save any. |

- Benevento x 3
- Lucky AGI x 3 - bicolor beefsteak slicer x 2 - celebrity x 1 - cherokee purple x 1 - aji pepper x 1 - cilantro x 2 (first time, hoping for flowers plus i make a lot of salsa) Yeah, i'm a fred hempel fan. First year without sungold varietals, tired of having them split and the lucky agi is just as good for snacking anyway. lucky agi & celebrity are proven performers for multiple years. benevento did well last year. bicolor beefsteak slicer is the new one for this year, we'll see how it performs: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...efsteak-slicer |

My list
This is what I'm starting this year. Most of these plants I will give away to people who help supply the local food pantry.
In my own garden we are growing dwarf stoney brook, prairie fire, Speckled Roman, dwarf saucy Mary, Don Juan, mini marzano and a variety called "pepper like stripes" which could be "dwarf stoney brook" just renamed, which is what Craig LeHoullier thinks . The mini marzano is a new variety from wild boar. It's a dwarf variety which looks to have a lot of promise for sauces. We are also starting from seed lettuce, onions, ground cherry, purple tomatilla. I will also direct seed lemon Drop watermelon, Minnesota midget cantaloupe, mini white cucumbers, soldier bean, pinto bean, Nora's baudette baking bean and red velvet green beans, golden beets, white turnips and carrots. We have a new grow tent this year for starting all our seeds. We had to move everything out of the basement and we couldn't afford a greenhouse so we went with the grow tent. We are going to use it in the winter for growing citrus fruit, peppers and herbs. 1.Dwarf saucy Mary-12*1 tray Sauce/salad 2.Dwarf Mini Marzano 12*1 tray Paste/canner 3.Dwarf Auria-12*1 tray Sauce 4.Dwarf epoch 12*1 tray slicer 5.Dwarf chestnut Opal-12*1 tray Slicer 6.Dwarf Desperado-12*1 tray Sauce/salad 7.Dwarf big Green-12 Slicer 8.Dwarf Idaho Gem-12 Slicer 9.Dwarf stoney Brooke Speckled-12 Paste/slicer 10.Don Juan 12*1 tray Paste/slicer 11.Dwarf Ziegler's Fleisch-12*1 tray Slicer/juice 12.Prairie fire Paste/sauce 24*2 tray 13.Korean long 12*1 tray/paste 14.Candy sweet Icicle 12 Paste 15.Speckled Roman 12*1 tray Paste/slicer 16.Honey drop Yellow 12* Cherry 17.White Tomesol 12/slicer Slicer 18.Great white Blue 12? The varieties that I grow are more like gun range paper targets. As for a grow list, I'm still about two months away on deciding. |

Olding? Far North Mix? I have Olding, and seeds sent to me described as Furthest North. I don't know if those are a selection from Far North Mix. PM me a mailing address if you's like seeds. |

So, I'll recommend trialing pole beans, for better flavor and better and longer production than bush beans. |
