Default Planted out today

Just finished planting into glasshouse. 14 total, 9 Sungold and 5 Gardeners Delight.

I cant tell one from the other at this stage, both grew well.

Used a lot of rooting powder and chicken manure pellets so hope I have not overdone it.

Not far from starting to flower.

They look really healthy. I was wondering why you planted in a glass house and then I looked at your location.

And first flowers opening. This is the earliest I have ever planted them and the earliest I have ever seen flowers opening

It is the Sungolds, the gardeners delight are lagging behind now and visibly the slightly smaller plants too.

Bamboo cane and I rig the glasshouse with polypropylene twine.

Its far from perfect but I watch the trusses for any bending as they grow and then support ones that need it and leave the ones that are ok.

9 of them are Sungold and I have never grown them before or any tomatoes smaller than gardeners delight actually.
So not sure how much support the trusses will need if any.

Cant be worse than my first year growing Toms.

I had 85 Lbs ripe, 38 Lbs unripe and 2 Lbs rotters,

Trouble was they were all moneymaker variety and nobody liked the taste, including me.

You're in for a treat with Sungolds. They are a big plant, though. Nothing dainty about how they grow. Plan on lots of support for their long, tall vines. What will you do with all the harvest?

Cant wait, I lose control of the plants every year

There are 3 Red Alert determinate tomato plants going down the middle in large pots

Last year I gave away to family but I love to throw bunches of them in a pan, lightly crush them and boil them up, add salt/pepper, 2 or 3 garlic cloves, oregano and boil about 60 grams of pasta to mix into it. Add good cheese on top and it is lovely.
