Awww Bill, I'm so sorry about the tomatoes lost to the wind. I've had a horrible problem with that this year. I'd guess you're very talented at grafting since the tomatoes held together at the grafting site but broke elsewhere under the wind stress. I heard some talk from the weatherman about there being a 65% chance of an El Nino this year which means cooler temps towards the end of summer, and more rains. Who knows, maybe we'll get a break from the summer heat.

I was to the point in Houston after 5 years of rushing to install row covers, blankets, etc. and losing sleep that I was going to plant out the first or second week of March and then go ahead and install summerweight row cover immediately and KEEP IT IN PLACE through May 1st, only opening the tops on hot days. Then I can rest easy that they won't be affected by any frosts.

That's probably the direction I'm heading in, there's been so much weather drama these past few years I'm seeking a low stress solution.
