Heard on National news this a.m., ALL 48 states will be 90 or above with 11 being over 100 !!

The Brandywines aren't liking it. Cherokee Purple seems unfazed. Dr. Lyle is throwing lots of blooms, we'll see how many set. A Royal Hillbilly transplant has recently taken off like a monster in the past 2 weeks with lots of blooms and many small fruit already set. It's an wonderful opportunity to track how these 20 different heirlooms react to this ridiculously hot growing season. Makes for a good benchmark, I suppose.

From what I see in the garden......
I assume this heat stops the tomatoes from flowering? Will they start flowering again when the temps cool? The open flowers we had when the heat came just seemed to dry up and I'm not seeing any new flowers.

The only blossom drop casualties I am finding is on my brandywine and my Black Cherry. KNOCK ON WOOD
It is still hitting the 100 mark with the humidity here lately. |
