HPS is great for flowering but not the best for veg. you can buy a MH/HPS combo bulb that will fit in the same fixture which is ideal and then has both the blue and red spectrum

You can get excellent results from seed to flower with HPS too.

My next to last tomato is just barely starting to blush I think, I'm anxious to get it weighed in a few days.

Are you primarily growing for size or to eat?

What's the taste of these fruit? Do they have the same sweet taste and flavour of sun-grown tomatoes? Or do they have more of an artificial taste, like you're eating grass?

Sometimes indoor-grown tomatoes can actually be sweeter, because you can let them ripen fully without worrying that they'll crack in the rain.

so i just started 64 3 inch pots under humidity domes under 8 T5 4 ft bulbs. I am in zone 6B, I also have a 1000w HPS that I have a 4ft fruiting plant under and 2 flats of kale, chard, broc, cauloflower and other lettuces. I want to try and zone push this year and get one bed of tomatoes out mid to late april. How soon should I move the plants from the floro starting setup to the HPS?

I moved my first tray of seedlings under my HPS when they were 2 weeks old when I put them into 4" square deep pots.

I then put a full tray of seedlings under it right after they sprouted with no issues. Light was probably 4' from top of seedlings. But mine is a 430 watt.
You might want to go higher with 1,000 watter.
