That thing looks like a big storm brewing. Looks like a Katrina type, so far away and will be getting stronger once it hits warmer water in a few days. It's too early to get a good read on this thing but hopefully that cold front will push it to the Atlantic and not hit land but I have my doubts. We=the USA don't need any more major storms this year.

I'll start preparing tomorrow for the worse and everyone in Florida needs to do the same.

Yes you are absolutely right. I tried to do some prep today but there isn't one single store with one single bottle of water anywhere. I think what I'm going to do is just fill up some containers and coolers with tap water since our tap water tastes very good anyway. We are lucky enough to have a gas grill and one and a half tanks of propane so I can always boil water if I need to and cook food if it starts to spoil in the refrigerator from no electricity. I've been through all this before I lost a roof in Hurricane Andrew. It's funny there's a meme going around on Facebook and it's so true: You know you're a native Floridian when a hurricane is coming and you're annoyed if it gets past the Category 3 cuz then you have to pay attention. LOL

Thank you my friend. All I have right now are pepper babies, going to start seeds on Saturday for all the tomatoes. They might not even germinate until the storm is over.

Glad to hear you're ready to plant but nothing is yet in the soil. Precious plants.

Be careful, it seems that which ever way Irma goes, it's not going to be a party. Either up the Florida east coast and on wards or across the end of Florida and into the gulf. It's at cat 4 now and gaining.

The cold system that was drooping down into Texas is moving off pretty fast, so there will be less blocking Irma if she comes into the gulf area.

All I can say, if it looks like it is definitely coming at you, bug out a bit early, this one is nasty.

Precious is right. A lot of folks depend on those January seeds. I will take excellent care because I know it isn't just for me.

Remember when everyone had hurricane parties? I lost a roof in Andrew, I don't think of a party anymore. We are Floridians though, we know what to do. Just part of living in the tropics.
I hope it doesn't go into the gulf or if it does, that it just fizzles.

Somehow I missed your initial posting. I told my tomato growing buddy I was cutting back 50% next year but you are the tomato world's star enabler!! What a wonderful list! I can't resist trying a few new ones each year and this list is no exception!

Keeping fingers crossed that Irma stays away and you can get started on schedule. Wishing you another awesome season!! Thank you for continuing this wonderful tradition!!!

Marsha,

The goodwill and concern from this on-line community is an indication of the high regard people have for you. SHOULD anything come near you with bad intent tons of in person and cyber help will be there.

Stay dry my friend.

Marsha,

Worried about you. I was glad to see the storm veered to the West. It looks like you won't get the brunt of it. Stay safe!

thanks Steve. Yeah we're not even in the cone of concern anymore. I just sowed all of my varieties, four of them were from you. That's about all that I have to do right now sitting here being kind of bored otherwise.
