Amazing story and pictures!!! I really hope that some day I'll be able to get some seeds of these early hearts (bi-color, GWR tri-color, and black heart). 44 days 'till first big ripe fruit is outstanding!!! My dream is to have first ripe tomato by July 4th in Oregon, usually my first heart shaped tomatoes are ready by end of July or first decade of August. I've tried many different varieties with no success, they're all later than I want them to be.

You're doing a very good job! Keep it up!

Thanks guys! I wish I could fast forward time and get these stable so I can send out some seeds! I hope you will think they are worth waiting for.

I have been asked why I don't send out seed to be grown out in winter in the south somewhere to speed up the process. The answer is that I believe that in order for these tomatoes to be "true north tomatoes" and to KNOW that they will do well in a Northern garden like mine, the selections have to come from here, from plants that have done well and produced early fruit here.

I have other crosses that I want to get out sooner, if you are interested for example there is a thread here called the KARMA project which is about breeding a PL cherry and a partnership between myself and a Florida gardener, TV moderator ginger2778. She is growing out the F1 over winter which has been super fun to watch from a distance

F4 seeds of the best 5 potato leaf hearts from last year are underway. They include:
1. a very productive 4 lobed black (purple) heart with clear epidermis from the most productive of the Tundra plants last year.
2. The huge smooth black Blunt purple heart (seed from the fruit in my avatar) almost 2 lbs and the biggest tomato I have personally ever grown
3. The best Polaris which was a beautiful dark pink blunt heart with dark red marbled interior
4. The Best and earliest bicoulour heart with a strong heart shape and lots of pink showing both inside and outside.
5. The bicoulour GWR marbled pink heart that showed up unexpectedly from one of the F4 what should have been a yellow biclour heart.

All will be potato leaf. Happy to get some seeds in and expect a late crop mainly for F5 selection for seed. Hoping to be heading for stable in the next couple of years and then I would love for some of you folks to give them a trial

I'll post pics once I have something to show
