I noticed these three young doves sitting on the backhoe tire this morning then checked again and they were still there. I'm guessing they're soaking up a little heat and getting some sunshine.

The cathedral is beautiful. I like the ornate construction of old cathedrals. Are those crypts around the wall in the first photo?


Are those vineyards or almond or olive groves on the hills behind the old cathedral?

If they are crypts and everything you see around the hills are olive trees. They call it the sea of olive trees, everything is olive
The province of Jaén with 550,000 hectares of olive groves and more than 66 million olive trees is the largest olive oil producing region in Spain and the world that generates 20% of the world production of olive oil.

I'm really impressed by the olive trees. If they are all as old as the single old tree pictured, they are amazingly old. Judging by the orderly rows they are growing in, I would guess most of the trees are of a more recent planting. I do like Spanish oilive oil and it is nice to know it's origins. The smell must be fantastic when all the olive trees are in bloom.

Yes, it is a photo of a thousand-year-old olive tree, although they are not all millenarian if there are many thousand-year-old olive trees in Jaen like the photo.
Right now in these dates the olives are being harvested from all the olive trees, and if it is a wonderful fragrance of smells when the olive tree is in flower

My view during winter time when I can’t hang out in my little garden...
I love weaving, and this loom is my pride and joy- she’s 6 feet tall, 7 feet long and 5 feet wide, and weighs as much as a piano. Alas, not made in the USA, but in Finland, and is a 24 shaft computer dobby loom, a direct descendant of the Jacquard loom first invented in 1804
