6-3-13 Harvest and Dinner
Hi,
Just thought I'd show off todays harvest! There would have been about 2 more lbs of ripe tomatoes if I hadn't had a little accident in the garden today. (See my "oops! and yikes" thread in the diseases and pests forum). In addition to the tomato photos, I've got a photo of my "mis en place" for tonight's gazpacho. Besides the the usual pantry items (oil, vinegar, salt, bread) and the tomatoes, I've got some shallots and a tasty green cuke from the garden and a garlicky pesto and some padron peppers from the freezer (from last year's harvest). We have been harvesting some Tomatoes here and there to. And made some Spaghetti sauces to go along with our Spaghetti squash we are currently waiting to harvest. Tomatoes are tasting excellent this year!

Hi,
Just noticed that not all of the tomato names are legible so: Back Row Lucky Cross, Amazon Chocolate on Momotaro, Brandywine OTV, Gary'O Sena Middle Row KBX, Vorlon, Goose Creek, Amazon Chocolate, Indian Stripe Front Row Indian Stripe on Momotaro, Dona F1, Santa Clara Canner Note, lots of cracks at this point due to a time when I was overwatering. Have since cut back on the water! Anne |

i'm surprised by the green shoulders on the momotaro tomatoes. i've only had them once when a neighbor grew them. is this the norm with momotaro?

Tightenup,
Yeah, the labels didn't show up very well, so I clarified things in a follow-up post. The Amazon Chocolate and Indian Stripe were grafted onto Momotaro rootstock. The scions were actually the AC and IS. I also have a couple of ungrafted AC & IS in the mix. Unfortunately, I didn't think to compare the flavors keeping the particular rootstock in mind.....next time <g>. Anyway, there are no Momotaro tomatoes per se in the photo. Delerium, Yep, the gazpacho was "yum, yum, yum" Loved seeing your photos. I like to see how people are actually using their harvest. Looks like a good sauce with all that basil! Oh, also like your sunshade in another thread - at least the color is pleasant (better than a print). Anne |

aclum...looking great! I love gazpacho. Also, you and I use the very same type of olive oil. I suggest it to everyone. It is pressed from Kalamata olives and is just divine!
