Default first slicing tomatoes this season

Things are starting to ripen in the field. I used some of these in the quesadillas I made yesterday for my students (it's finals week). The Grub's Mystery Greens are ready too, but I neglected to take a shot. The one in the middle is a Russian variety, North Queen. To the left is my Banded Amazon, out of Arbuznyi and on the right the wonderful Bedouin (or Beduin). Now if we could just get some rain, it might be a decent summer!

You are a lucky one...

It seems as I am miles away getting ripe tomatoes...
And if you need some rain... come over. I have more here than I can handle.

That Banded Amazon is a really beautiful tomato. I've never heard of it (and couldn't find anything on the web). Is it a recent introduction or one of your own? How is the taste? Great job so far this year!

Congratz on those beauties! Your students are very lucky to have a nice teacher like you make them quesadillas with fresh garden tomatoes.

Oooh lucky you, Banded Amazon looks gorgeous. I've got a young plant growing, looks really healthy and I'm just seeing the first flowers forming. A long way to go yet but I'm looking forward to trying it later

You're killing me. I'm still trying to finish planting in between spring thunderstorms every day here.

I'm guessing Banded Amazon is one of yours?

They look awesome!! I'm still in the green and small stage up here in the tundra. It's so nice to see good tomato pictures while I'm waiting.

Yes, the Banded Amazon is one I've been working on. I released the variety a couple of years ago, but this is a new selection. A few people are growing it this season, but I ran out of seed quickly.
I'm just about done with this school year and I finished grading the last exams an hour ago, so I can start full-time farming this week. Teachers look forward to the summer as much as their students!

Those slicers look wonderful! I'm growing quite a few of your smaller-fruited varieties this year... really looking forward to trying some. I homeschool an 8 YO, and we're done next week. The last day of school is right up there as one of my favorite days of the year! THEN the garden can get finished!
