Looky what we found that we totally forgot about.. A fully colanized Oyster Mycelium container. Perfect timing to add it right in to our Oyster Mushroom raised bed.

Thanks! I am ready for some new mushroom growing experiments. Going to start adding granular DE in to the substrates and compare it with Substrates with no DE. I am wondering if adding DE will help with lessening the chance of contamination and increase air flow within the substrate.

it won't hurt, i've used perlite in substrate mixes before, wherever the mycelium met a piece of perlite it rhizomorphed out around it. i figure coarse de would be similar

Are you familiar with the guy who had Oysters growing from his Vermicompost bin? Link here
http://www.redwormcomposting.com/fun...in-a-worm-bin/ So i tried to replicate this in my Worm Bin. And had no luck getting the mycelium going - What i did find out was that the Worms loved feasting on the mushroom stem cuttings. So now i wonder if the mycelium was started in pure harvested vermicompost with no worms. |

I used to have an apple tree with two varieties. Golden delicious and some sort of tart, red, maybe Macintosh. I loved it! In July we had tons of fresh eating apples and in September we had cooking apples to freeze.

Morning Tomatovillians
Pic 1 - Day 4 - Outdoor Oyster Mushrooms Pic 2 & 3 - Same varieties in reverse using discarded portions when grafting to make 2nd graft from original plants parts. I figured i could study plant behavior if i did the 2 desired varieties the way i wanted and in reverse just to see which would do better. Pic 4 - Macrobin Grafts are looking great. All flowering at this point 3-28-14 Pic 5 - Onions/Garlic and hopefully more Oyster Mushrooms. Last edited by Delerium; March 28, 2014 at 12:33 PM. Reason: adding photos |
