Krasnyi Mayak
This is a new offering from Andrey which he listed in the 2010 SSE yearbook. The name translates to "Red Beacon" and is a Red/Raspberry colored heart that gets up into the 700 gram range. This is the first to ripen and the runt of the litter. I have green ones that are over 500 grams on the plant. It no longer exists as when I was doing the taste test I ate the whole thing seeds included. Here are a few pictures as more will follow as the biggies ripen up. Ami

If I eat the first tomato of a new variety seed and all it must be good. Next one I will let fully ripen before devouring and will save the seed. This is supposed to be an short season variety from Siberia, 80 days, RL, Ind. which it seems to be. Surprising thing was it was in the top seven varieties that had very good fruit set during our 3 week heat wave in July. The other new heart variety I'm growing from Andrey, Admiralteyskoe Serdtse from the USSR which is growing next to Krasnyi Mayak had no fruit set during the heat wave but has set fruits since when the weather cooled down. The short season DTM of 80 days is long to me. I won't want to try it here.
