Mark, we all appreciate your sharing as well. Great ideas came from you and nice pictures too. Many TV-lians are starting green houses because of you. Thank you for sharing. I know I had earlier tomatoes even with cold green house.

Just picked few to let them ripen inside. Will pickle smaller green toms. My SIL likes green pickled tomatoes.

could you share a good recipe Ella? If you have time of course. Whatever I tried before I never really liked. Followed the FDA 50/50 vinegar water rule, but that makes it inedible for me.
Or you ferment them?

Luda, I am planning to ferment them.

http://nourishedkitchen.com/fermented-green-tomatoes/

This site explains how. I add to my dill.
I am going to call my mom today and ask her for more recommendations, she is an expert it that.

Speaking of fermenting they had some goof ball in Austin on the news the other day talking about it.
It was like it was something new and he was the expert.
He even said that it got its start in America at Coney Island.
Really dude you think so.
Some times I just have to shake my head at the stuff they have on TV.

Carry on.

About 7 inches of rain in the last 24 hours and it is still raining.
This is from my rain gauge at the house.
I have been running around in it like a fool on and off all day.

They were picked green. Boy, they taste as if they ripen on the vine.

below is a picture of my final salvage : Maters and chili peppers all.
I picked the on Oct. 28 and now few of them are getting color. I got a lot more left on the vines. Not bothering to make pickles anymore this year.

Pickling by Lacto fermentation is an age old way. It is simple :
about one TBS of salt per quart of water. You can do a little more salt if you want.
I just fermented a quart of cukes and they are done and now in the frig.

Ginny, I know two for sure are Girl Girl's Weird Thing (stripy one) and Claude Brown’s Y. Giant (yellow/orange).

The pink one is suppose to be Carbon (Carbon is black variety), this is definitely not. It is either cross or stray seed. Was great producer (more than 35 pounds) and good taste. I saved seeds from it. Will try it next year.

Smaller black tomato is one of the following: Vorlon, JD's Special C-Tex, Amazon chocolate, Rosella Purple Dwarf or Blackberry. I did not label this time.

Ella, GGWT looks amazing again - nature's masterpiece! I would run around the house holding it in my hands (like I did with every Cherokee Green) and making everyone look and appreciate. Tomato appreciation police. ( Oh no, not look at this gorgeous amber tomato again!) Claude Brown's Y is really nice too!

My pickled green cherry tomatoes look ready, but don't taste ready yet.
