Default Potato Spacing

What is a good spacing between the rows and between plants for my seed potatoes?

How deep should I plant them?

I plan to grow the following:
Blue Victor
Danninger Blaue
German Butterball
Gescheckte Kolm
Linzer Rose
Rosa Ungarische
Rote Kipfler
Wettstein's White Cresent

I also plan on alternating the colors to make it easier to save seed potatoes for next season.

thanks,
Dean

Looks like your order got there, Dean. I sent the Rote Kifler and Rosa U.

I figure most potatoes need 2-3 sq ft of space. If you row-plant them, figure on a spacing at least a foot apart. If you blant intensively in blocks (more work, but an option for those with little space), about 16-18" apart in all directions. The Rote Kifler is a smaller variety and CAN squeeze a little closer.

If you choose to squeeze potatoes closer together, yield per plant drops off, but yield per sqaure foot is higher.

That's how i plant my spud crop with a similar spacing also eyolf,i cover with a mulch layer after planting, then another thinner layer mid season to stop greening. This type of planting system only suits hand harvesting though but for small areas i recommend it.
