Is this the right way to get eggplant seeds?

I bought a selection of miniature eggplants in Bangkok a few days ago, and am letting them age and then rot before subtracting the seeds. Is that the right approach?

Those are some nice looking eggplants looks to be about the size for stir frying

I am planing on saving seeds from eggplants too and after a search was able to find only 3 videos on how to do this at youtube.
