Default Heinz 1350, 1439

Hi folks,
I will be planting a Heinz determinate this year. Does anyone have any experience with any of them, good or bad? I'm considering Heinz 1350 or 1439, but am open to others. I do want it to be a Heinz, though, with a concentrated harvest.

TIA,
Nan

Hi Nan, I haven't grown any Heinz varieties but the SESE 2018 catalogue arrived today and they have 1350 - in case you needed seeds. I thought of this thread when I saw it listed.

Abbreviated description: uniform ripening, crack resistant, productive, concentrated fruit set, for canning, cooking, and salads. Good luck!

Mdtng, thanks for thinking of me! I have already ordered Heinz 1439, since I had a shopping list of seeds I needed and one place had them all, as long as I bought 1439. It was a toss-up with 1350; nobody says too much to differentiate these.

It had to be a Heinz, because there used to be a huge Heinz processing plant in Pittsburgh, and my grandmother worked there.

Nice family connection. I've thought a few times about growing Heinz or Campbell's varieties but can never decide on a number! Lol

Keep us posted.

Thank you for that link, Carolyn. That's about as much info as is found anywhere on the Heinzes.
