Default Any Rebel Yell RL out there besides mine?

I just started seed on Sept 26th for my fall crop and out of all the tomatoes I started, The two Rebel Yell tomatoes came up faster and much more vigorous and are head and shoulders ahead of all the other seedlings and are ready to set out in record time. Only one tomato, an Ambrosia Orange cherry, was bigger and set out yesterday. The surprise with my two Rebel Yell plants was that one was an RL and the other a PL. The RL is more stocky and branching more and the PL is slightly taller. The seed was obtained from Marsha in Florida, I am positive there was no mix ups when starting. Has anyone experienced this?

Nope. Marsha has always wanted a cross, perhaps she has had one.

Of the twelve seedlings of Rebel Yell this year, all were potato leaf. Excellent tomato and will continue to grow it.

Mine are always PL. Segregate the line, maybe you will find a nice surprise in there.

As I explained in the other thread, some RY were my own growout, then a kind donation of RY was made by another Tviller when I was running out, then I had more of my own mature. I do not know who got which seeds as I gave out both.
FYI- I started 4 seeds of the donated ones for my grow out this season, all 4 are showing true leaves and they are PL, like they should be.

This is becoming very interesting! Thank you to all, for the information. Even the color of the RL plant is much different! a much deeper green.

That's not what you said in your 2015 thread.

Which 2015 thread? I swear, I am getting so the brain doesn't work at all. The only thing I retain anymore is fluid!

That is good news on the seed purity of Rebel Yell, since your seed all came out true to type. It sounds very possible, more likely than not actually, that it is a natural cross or possibly a mutation of RY.

I know you said it's for a fact not a stray seed, but I think It might be. A cross would show up in more than 1 seed.

Not on my end! positively no strays! the other contributor to your seed may have but with the overwhelming size of these two plants would be hard to do. They are neck and neck and two- three times the size of any other plants. I just do not think a stray seed. If you could find out what the person was saving seed for in RL and distributing, that would help for sure. Hopefully not a long list!!
lol
