Pink for2007
I'll only be planting 5-7 Tomatos next year. Wanting to try a couple of Pinks. Would appreciate recommendations for short season Pink varieties.
TIA

Grushovka, (from Seedstrust.com)
Siberian Pink (from Sandhill) Both are early, determinates with smaller sized fruits, heavy bearing and tasty. Grushovka did well with disease tolerance as well.

Grushovka Most pinks need a longer season here so I haven't had good success with many....but I keep trying anyway... Jeanne |

I'll second Eva Purple Ball, excellent production of salad size tomatoes and good taste also.

I planted three Pink Beauties that I grew from seed from Johnny's. I have been really happy with them. I plan to plant at least two of them again next year. They are producing like crazy. I really like the taste of them. They are kind-of mellow, a bit sweet, with a bit of a fruity melon flavor. They are fairly meaty, too. They are really good in eggplant parmesan. They have been perfectly shaped with very little splitting or BEM. On average, they are about 4 inch diameter. Thumbs up!
They are indeterminates and take about 70 days. That may be longer than what you are looking for. |

(how short of a season?)

Thanks for all the responses. I will research them all. I'd like varieties with DTM of 75 days or less. I understand that DTM estimates are on the order of a SWAG. I have actually grown Caspian Pink and it is my favorite but only average 4-5 ripe tomatos per year. Since I'll only be growing so few tomatos productivity is a consideration.
Thanks again

I am curious as to why your season is that short in that part of Washington. Caspian Pink does take longer as you noted but I am pretty close to you that I would have thought our seasons were similar enough that you would see a similar harvest as I have. I don't have any other recommendations though but I think you should give Caspian Pink another shot.

Clear Pink Early
Pale Perfect Purple ...both are nice and early here in Vancouver BC... although this year I had Brandywine and Gogosha ripen way before San Fransisco Fog...
