Default Project: Brandywine x Neves Azorean Red

I am working on a really cool cross for a good friend.

Bill Jeffers (PapaVic) asked me for some Neves Azorean Red seeds a couple years ago. I sent them and he grew it out. In the same season, he noticed a really productive Brandywine (from Livingston Seed Co.) and crossed it with Neves to "build a better tomatoer".

He mailed me some F1 seeds, so last season, I grew it out (RL) - it produced some great tasting maters (outstanding for being pot bound), and this year in the F2's I have 3 RL's and 2 PL.
So we know the cross took.

Bunch of other folks got some F2's as well.

Should be fun!

~ Tom

Tom, you and others in on this project might take a look at the above thread where quite a few folks are reporting on that cross and where Bill has shown some pictures that might be helpful to others working on the same project.

Bill sent me some F1 seeds knowing my interest in NAR for sure, and I'll be growing a plant this summer, rather, Freda will.

When I said I'd be behind most others as to F2 seed Bill offered to send me some but my list is already set for this summer and I just can't fit in any more since I can grow so few plants these days and I have many many all new ones and they have first priority.

Just curious, but the NAR seeds you sent to Bill, were they from plants you grew from seeds from me? Matters not, really, but if I have children out there I'd like to recognize them and maybe put them in my will I have to make this summer.

lol Carolyn - too funny; take it easy up there!

My NAR came from a guy named Don (but I forget which one).
A Don from the GW dayz, which doesn't narrow it down much...
But when I was first on and met everyone at GW I was trading like mad ...
Luckily for my new wife (and lawn), my seed trading has slowed to be only what I "need" (yeah right)...
I'm building a new raised bed this spring and have it drawn out already...
(Gosh do I love F2's)

Carolyn - do you see what you have created ???!!

On another note, I'm happy to report that I have 4 RL NAR X
and 2 PL NAR X - I'm going to grow out 1 of each.

Here's a few photo's from my BxNAR's taken today. First photo shows the PL version on the left and the RL variant on the right. The second is the PL and the third is the PL overhead shot. The forth is the RL variant and the fifth is an overhead shot of the RL. Ami

Good growing T !!!
Mine are doing good as well, and I should be able to get out to the patch tonight and snap some pics. The RL's seem to be more vigorous to me than the PL's.

See you around campus,

~ Tom
