Default Red Penna tomato - Worth trying??

My son and daughter-in-law brought me some Red Penna tomato seeds from San Francisco. Anyone ever grow or try this tomato? Any information would be helpful. I did read some info from Tatiana's website. Yes, no, maybe ?? Thanks

I found this at Tatianna's Tomatobase. Three people rated it as "good taste". Anyhow, it is supposed to have some of the "old fashioned" complex flavors.

Looks to me like you will enjoy this one.

It has been many years since Red Penna was in the garden. My journal indicated it was very large, 12 ounce average with 18 ounce the largest tomato. Here RP was a fairly late season tomato and not particularly productive. No indication of flavor and no reason given why it was not grown other than one time. Next year I am going to try it again just to have a better record. Good luck and let us know what you think.
