Default Wild Turkey in the Tomato Bed

Parked between the chives and my Bycze Jaja is evidently the perfect spot for this wild turkey to take a dust bath. Thank goodness for Google which assured me that this turkey was just taking a bath and not, as I originally thought, trying to make a nest!

Great picture. At least it looks like he/she didn't do any damage. Interesting to see the various critters we all get in our gardens (moose and squirrels for me ... plus the neighbor's dog and occasionally my own).

The "Wild Turkey" in MY garden is generally sipped slowly at the end of a hard workday.

nesting would occur in late march early april for our area. i never have had turkeys do any damage and they eat lots of insects, hopefully the ticks they no doubts spread i know guinea hens really clean up ticks, so i'm ok with them.

I'd love to find "Wild Turkey" in my gardens. Or even Jim Bean. I'd probably spend more time out there then.

That is a nice looking bird. I agree with the above post. I would think the turkey would eat insects out of your garden. I do wonder if it will peck at the tomatoes as they begin to ripen. I'm fairly certain a chicken would.

That's a great picture! I've seen everything from pidgeons to ducks, hawks and even a neighbor's escaped chicken in my back yard, but never a wild turkey.

I was expecting to see a drunk guy on wild turkey running around his tomatoes. Oh well. A real turkey will do. Hope he de-bugs your garden!

Any game animal in season that finds itself in one of my beds is in mortal danger of returning all that purloined food energy involuntarily.

The natural sounds around my house just as the sun is going down includes coyotes howling and Turkeys gobbling at each other from tree to tree. When you have a lot of them around, they can make a lot of noise, but I love it. Never had either in my garden. Wish the turkeys would visit my garden and eat a few grasshoppers.
