Mr. Sids

I've got this variety in a trade, but couldn't find any infos about it. Due to an illness for several days, I couldn't start my second seed charge last weekend as I had wanted before. A good chance for Mr. Sids to be now under the "seeds-to-be grown"?

You sure it's not Dr. Suds? Did it come from a lady in West Virginia? If so, the entire name on the pack should read Dr. Suds Capon Bridge and it's a large pink beefsteak. Then on the other hand, it could be simply Mr. Sids as you say and I have no idea whatever about it.

Clara, I had looked at a couple of SSE YEarbooks for MR Sids and found nothing.

But I did find the Dr. Suds one that Travis just mentioned. So I went back and looked for something called Dr. Sids and found nothing.

Can't you ask the person you got it from where they got it from and what it's like if it really is Mr. Sids and not the Dr. Suds one which anyone who is an SSE member could have gotten this Spring? Or perhaps there were sources other than the SSE Yearbook for the Dr. Suds one.

Thank you, Travis and Carolyn! To answer your questions: On the package there's nothing else than the name "Mr. Sids". I've already asked the person, I've got it from, but he has never grown it before and has no infos about it. That's why I have been asking.
I think I will grow it this season - having a surprise is always great fun! And maybe it turns out to be what you two suppose.

Mr. Sids it is.

I gave the seed to David. I received it from a gardener in my hown town, who received it from his next door neighbor, who received it from Mr. "Sids" down the street. Sidorovich, I think, was his family name. I'll check to make sure. My info was that he first started growing this tomato in the late 1950's.

Gary, thanks for the info. Is it PL or RL and how about the taste. Looks like they may tip the scale at about 400-500 grams. Ami
