do a google search for hydroponic shops in the area. they sell top of the line stuff but you will def have to shell out the cash for it. i have used fox farms ocean forest potting mix in containers and the plants just love the stuff

But, if you make it down to Poway area, check our Walter Anderson's Nursery.

Both have EB Stone garden compost, Armstrong cost more, WA has it for $5 a bag.

Fox Farms is some good stuf, but is it expensive !!

Wait, there's gotta be a nursery in Valley Center? Mecca of veggies and many orchards etc. Theres a mushroom firm in San Marcos or Fallbrook.

Wait, there's gotta be a nursery in Valley Center? Mecca of veggies and many orchards etc. Theres a mushroom firm in San Marcos or Fallbrook.

Tonio, I am familiar with Walter Anderson's, I went there last year looking for heirloom seedlings but all they had were hybrids! What a disappointment! Now I drive to Roger's Gardens in Newport Beach, they have a huge selection! I'll remember EB Stone, I think Roger's will stock it! Thanks for your input!

Janie - There is a Dixieline off the 215 at Clinton Keith that has a decent selection on garden products. They carry a line called Dr Earth which seems pretty good. They have some stuff inside as you walk in the door and much more, and bigger bags outside in garden dept.

I like the EB Stone products. My potted tomatoes are in a mix of half EB Stone Cactus Mix and half EB Stone "Edna's Best" potting soil. No BER issues, despite occasionally letting the plants wilt.

They may have a few, cant rememeber. You know who has a pretty good selection of Heirlooms in Spring is Louies Nursery at the 215 and Scott on the West side of the freeway.

Did you not like the Druzba's? I planted two plants of Druzba this year and they did very well. Nice medium sized tomatos that tasted very good.

Ted, I had to discard them because of BER..........

I'm almost afraid to tell you, but most varieties may have a short period of BER and then it clears up and the future tomatoes are fine. I had thirty or forty fruits with BER on a few varieties this year after a rainy period. I pulled those frui and experienced no more BER. My Druzbas had no BER because they didn't start setting fruit until after the rainy period. I also had some peppers in containers with BER. On peppers, it doesn't usually appear at the blossom point, but it does appear as big brown spots on the walls of the peppers.

Ted, the ones I picked and discarded already had the ugly butt.......I'm hoping the rest will be fine, I didn't find any more BER on my Kelloggs Breakfast so I have my fingers crossed...........

Linda, you mean "picked the fruit and discarded them" not "pulled and discarded 20 plants", right? I think that confusion was the cause of Ted's comment.
