Pappy's Dream leaf type

I have two seedlings up, and the first set of true leaves look like potato leaf. Is it too early to be sure that it is PL? I bought the seeds from Heritage Seed, so consider the source to be good. Any info would be appreciated.

Creister, that's my release of the one I honored my late father with. It has Spukakee in its parentage, but I have not seen true Potato leaf. I have seen some of what I would almost call "serrated PL". But that was 4 generations ago. Tell me what you get when the second set of real leaves start showing up.

I bought some from Heritage seed too. I'll be starting my seed next week and I'll keep an eye on what mine do.

It should be Regular Leaf. As I stated above, it has Spukakee in its parentage, but I have not seen true Potato leaf. I have seen some of what I would almost call "serrated PL". But that was 4 generations ago.

I think I will plant some more of the seeds I have and see what I get. The 2nd set of real leaves are just begining. I will post a picture in a few days.

Here's a picture of the plant that produced the seeds you have. This is the same thing I've seen for 4 years now. I have no explanation for what you are seeing.

I plan to just grow it out and see what happens. I also planted a dozen more seeds to see what happens. They have not emerged yet. As long as it tastes good.

My true sentiments all the time. If it don't taste good, then I won't grow it again. I think you'll like Pappy's Dream.

I called this one regular leaf instead of "serrated potato leaf" because it has too much serration to be a pure potato leaf. The leaves are very much large and somewhat "potato-ish", but I still put it in the regular leaf. It has 4 different varieties in its parentage. Of them, only Spudakee was potato leaf. It seems to have inherited its color and taste from Goose Creek.

UPDATE:

After much thought and some discussions offline, I have decided to call this "POTATO LEAF". This is because it actually is "Serrated Potato Leaf" which has found wide spread acceptance lately. I'm sorry for any problems this might have caused, but getting it correct according to today's rules is the right thing to do. Refer to the above picture in post #9 for what I have always seen.
