Default "Garnet" tomato

This cherry tomato was a surprise to me. It's only the size of a dime when ripe. Bright, garnet bronze color. They say dynamite comes in small packages..well, this cherry tomato has a Huge tomato flavor for being so small. They hang in clusters of 10 or 12. I'm sure I will be saving seeds for next season.

It sounds excellent, but is supposed to be 1".

I received some seeds in a recent swap and am tempted to grow it in 2017

Thanks for the review!

From Tomato Grower's Supply:

Garnet #6430 (30 seeds) These great tasting cherry tomatoes offer a unique new color that is a mix of brown and red with golden highlights. They are not just deep red nor are they black, but a rich burnished shade of bronze. As pretty as they are to look at, what makes them truly special is their taste--sweet with a good measure of acid and a richness that fills your mouth with fabulous, earthy flavor. Vigorous, tall vines put on a very heavy set of these 1-inch, crack-resistant fruits. Indeterminate. 70 days.

Great photos! I'm glad to hear a great report on this tomato, I've got seeds and it is on my 2017 grow list. I will be growing these, Black cherry and Chocolate cherry for comparisons to see which we like best.

I'm glad to see the good review too. I've been reading the TGS description for a couple of years now. I asked here and chancethegardener sent me some Garnet seeds. They instantly went on our must-grow list for next spring/summer.

I can tell you that Chocolate Cherry and Black Cherry are the same tomato..at least it was for me in 2015 season. Garnet cherry is much smaller. Some are 1" size and some are smaller when ripe. Full tomato flavor for such a smaller tomato.

Garnet has been smaller than 1" for me. I would say around 3/4". Wonderful, full tomato flavor. Not overly sweet, not overly acidic, just the perfect balance of the two.

You are the second person who has said that. BigVanVader also said that. Are they both yellow skinned? Maybe I'm wasting my time growing both and would better served trying another from my long list of want to grow.

I grew both in 2014/2015 season to compare and they are exact tomato..same taste, size, leaf form etc. Both are productive, but 2015 season was a big failure mid season due to 9 inches of rain in January and the plants could never fully recover from fungus and wet leaves. Having a bumper crop so far this season. Pick something else from your grow list. I always grow 3 plants of Black Cherry every season. They make great salsa tomatoes.
