Flower stem branch?
I don't think I've seen this before. At the end of a flower stem the plant is forming a branch with new vegetive growth. This is a gold rush currant tomato, is this common with currant types?

I don't know how 'common' it is, but I saw it last year on a non-currant type.

I have seen it during the most active growing period. I cut the new 'branch' before it got too long to support the flowers & fruits. If you can tie it, the result is hopefully more fruits

Agreed on the active growth period. Several varieties exhibit this from time to time, but especially the rampant growers like Matt's Wild Cherry.

Thanks all. I think I'll snip it and let more 'regular' growth produce fruits. Given how prolific these types are supposed to be I don't think I'll even notice the missing few fruits.

May be.
If it is black it is Black Prince. Red it is early girl. Yellow it is Lemon Boy. There was some on it when I left for work but they are gone now. But it has more growing. I dont know what it is it was a wee sprout in a plant I bought and forgot what it was after I planted it. Worth |
