Tormato, you just actually made me laugh out loud Recommending recipes without actually knowing what the ingredients taste like = true mad scientist

And in case you really don't know and haven't looked it up, yet, it's a sweet almond paste and here's a link to a recipe: https://www.daringgourmet.com/how-to...-almond-paste/

Clara I'm with you on the nougat, too!

Poor Gary You've obviously never eaten fruit cake with marzipan and icing. So sad

Clara, Yum on the nougat suggestion

If I ever get these tomatoes stabilized (or if Early Annie tastes as good) I'll be happy to share seeds

I finally looked up A.U. It's Altajskij Urozajnit - so you can understand why we refer to it as Hey You!

A great tasting compact red and almost as good as my "marizipan flavoured" one!

Is that all three; fruit cake, marzipan, and icing, stacked together?

Closest I can come to that is assorted candies (think just about anything) glazed with royal frosting.

Helping build ~100 gingerbread houses in an evening is where that sugar rush happens. The children, they go directly for the royal frosting, squeezing it right out of the pastry bags straight into their mouths.

Yes Gary! the cake has a thin (quarter inch?) layer of marzipan over the top which makes it smooth and flat for the icing which goes on top. Christmas cakes and wedding cakes are often made that way - at least they used to be in the UK. Yum yum

It's really too bad that sugar is so bad for our health

Wedding cake that's what I was thinking!
Glorious stuff but you only ever get a small piece, so no harm in that.

"Marzipan (a.k.a. almond paste) is merely blanched almonds ground up in a food processor with sugar and a little corn syrup."
