new to canning, help me please

Last night I canned my first thing ever, a batch of blackberry jam. Well, after their time in the water bath, I noticed that the lids were still popping up and down when pressed. This morning, after they had cooled overnight, I noticed that the lids were sucked down. Last night I was worried I did something wrong but this morning it looks ok. What is up?

It's the cooling process that forms a vacuum and sucks the lids down for a tight seal. So long as the jars are sealed you should be fine.

If the lids weren't sucked down after they cooled.........THEN I'd be worried.

Sounds good Double J- I wouldnt mess with lids fresh out of the canner, just in case you get them off kilter.... its the "POP" of suction about 1-2 hrs after you get them out of the bath that is the "good part!"

Congrats! its a lot of fun having your own stuff saved!
