I think we are confusing the word "service".
My impression has been that Service is how you are treated by employees. If you don't get what you ordered, that is a technical/order fulfillment problem, and should have a different term to describe it. If I go to a restaurant and the waiter or waitress is very attentive and the food arrives quickly, but I hate the food, I wouldn't say it's bad service.

My question was "did you happen to see the story of how he named Gary Ibsen's Gold kinda like he's renamed so many others?" So, "named" refers to Gary Ibsen naming a tomato after himself. I have no idea whether it was "unnamed" when it came to Mr. Ibsen after decades of growing in a family garden. Then again, one might surmise it had some kind of name after all those years back in West Virginia & Tennessee, doncha think? But "renamed" refers to other tomatoes he in fact renamed. Sunset Red Horizon comes to mind. I'm sure that without much effort, one could come up with more tomatoes "renamed" by Mr. Ibsen. PV |

GI: Do you mind if I sell seeds of this tomato you've got growing here?
GB: Nope. GI: What do you want me to call it? GB: Name it whatever you want, doesn't matter to me. We may never know.

Sometimes I give so called working names to a variety that has been given to me and then name it at a later date.
One example is what was called Perry's Teasum, which Brian in OK named it after I kept praising it so highly. The seeds were given to me by Charlie Perry, hence the name Perry's Teasum. So just as an experience in naming a variety I let other folks name it after I gave all the relevant info I had about it. And thus Perry's Teasumn morphed into Neve's Azorean Red. And I sent all 22 folks who posted in that thread seeds for NAR.

I know I received awful fast service from him. I have posted this elsewhere I think. And extra seeds also. I do appreciate that. He was also very quick to reply to my request for suggestions. So my experience was very positive as with several others I have ordered seeds from. I personally don't pay a lot of attention to the names. If they grow true to description I'm happy. Jay
