Default Pepper plant or weed?

I have been feeding this plant thinking that it is a pepper plant. Today I tried to search for a pepper plant that looks like this and was annoyed to find that it is probably a weed
In my defense, I had planted a bunch of hot pepper mix seeds, so I did not know what to expect .. So can someone please confirm that it is a weed, so that I can uproot it, cut it up, burn it ..

I agree with the above. If every blossom on the spike of flowers set fruit, well, that would be something very special, but it isn't going to happen as you now know.

Pokeweed is horribly invasive. Birds eat the berries and poop them everywhere. It's considered an invasive weed in some states even though it's native to some states. Pull out the monster before it reproduces.

It is poke and I was raised eating it.
I only wish I could get it started here.

It's known as Poke , and it's a nasty old weed. Some people have eaten it, my ex MIL loved the nasty stuff, but I personally think it is foul tasting. I used to take the pot belly pigs to an area in our pasture that was always growing that stuff and they would eat it up right to digging up the roots!

But, it always would try to come back and I sure did not want it in my cow pasture or hay fields. Cows don't like it, in my experience, and so it takes up good forage room for nada.

The root goes way way down like an underground log almost.
Folks should see one that has been watered and 13-13-13 put on it all year.
