Homemade whole wheat sourdough (DH bakes weekly)
Homemade garlic mayo
Thick slice of a great tomato
Several slices of uncured apple smoked bacon.

Aaaaah. The anticipation. Slicing tomatoes are two to three weeks out, but I've got some out there getting bigger by the day. Cherries are starting, so at least I've got that.

Ted, I remove the ring. With all the mayo I put on, there's plenty of fat.

How about a BLTOB. That's a Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Onion Burrito. Slather a tortilla wrap with mayo, add shredded lettuce, current tomatoes, bacon bits and diced onion. then wrap it all up.

Or a BLTAT
Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado and Turkey. Add some mayo and you are set.

Bruschetta on Sour Dough today for lunch. I made it with the best Sour Dough I could buy today. The Sour Dough bread was good bread, but not good sour dough. I used two large JD's Special C Tex tomatoes sliced thick which completely covered the bread slices. I used fresh basil and a little garlic and covered them thickly with an Italian cheese blend which included asiago and a few others. I toasted them in the oven until the cheese was bubbling. They were great.

I like a big plate of Purple Hull peas and BLTs made on nearly any kind of bread with Miracle Whip and lots of fresh ground black pepper. White peas, Blackeyed peas or fresh Butter beans can be substituted for the Purple Hull peas. I prefer the thick sliced well smoked bacon but any will do as long as I have fresh tomatoes.

For the BLT with egg I like to fry the egg and flip it and press on it with the spatula so the yolk bursts and spreads out as it cooks. With that one a little dab of mustard is good along with the Miracle Whip.

Leftover roast beef sandwiches are great with a very thick slice of tomato and some fresh Bermuda onion. Ham tomato and cheese is also good. The best sandwich short of a BLT with fresh tomato is a good grilled hamburger with a thick slice of onion and tomato.

If a sandwich doesn't drip off both elbows while you are eating it you don't have enough tomato on it.

Ok here's my contribution from Friday night I had been gifting a bit if my produce to the neighbors for several months now and I guess they felt it was time to pay it forward. One bought me some real good bacon, that she had shipped out from Mississippi.

BTAT
(Bacon, tomato, avocado And turkey)

I believe it was a black from Tula

IT was actually my first time trying this bread. It was pretty darn good. And seems to have the makings of a good product.

  • We don’t use refined sugars. When sugar is refined and processed there are many harmful ingredients that are added to the sugar as a result. Instead, we use malted barley, a natural sweetener produced from sprouted barley, which is basically a carbohydrate comprised mostly of complex carbohydrates rather than the "sugar" carbohydrates.
  • We don’t use anything artificial – no preservatives or shortenings.
  • We use a unique slow-bake process to preserve the natural fiber and bran benefits of grains.
