Default Hurricane Ike 2008

I came across this old photo of our backyard. We were so lucky. On either side of us water came into our neighbors' roofs. Our neighbor on the right had his 2nd floor ceiling collapse. The neighbor on our left had her sheetrock soaked from top to bottom. She was out of her house for many, many months while it was being repaired.

Everyone's fence blew down and almost evryone had to get a new roof. The nieghborhood streets were filled with downed trees and powerlines. You can see some electrical cords by the back door. DH had gotten a generator so we had a few lamps and appliances going. The generator was in the garage. It was LOUD!

Default engineering disasters.

Here are pictures of an overhang that after putting the glass up started to sag and crack.
The glass was removed to put bracing up.
This is a building I am working in.
We were on the floor and those cracks weren't there the day before.

Default This guy came out after the rain today

It's not one of the usual green-skinned chameleons. These brown ones are larger and faster. I'm not sure of their name.

Default Arrrggghhh

I just checked and the heat index is 100 degrees at 2:38 pm. This display was out today at a store I was shopping in. I cannot think about Halloween when it is this hot. And way too early.

Charlie Brown had it right. Christmas is way too commercialized. And he said it way back in 1965.

Charlie Brown was right, but he wasn't very bright. How many times must you try to kick a football with Lucy holding it to realize it ain't gonna happen?

I attempted to build my first grape trellis. Since I'm going to have to wait 2 years at least, it'll probably be trellis for gourd and tomatoes in the mean time.

Default NASA Road 1

I drive down this boulevard nearly every day. The street is currently lined with banners commemorating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

I remember the moon landing.

Here is one of the worthless support beams in the building sagging.

Default Nasa Road 1... Main entrance to Johnson Space Center.

I took this from my car while I was stopped at a red light.

Every now and then I love watching her episode on chicken -- a cross contamination nightmare, but also a reminder of the days before the germaphobes took over our kitchens.

So true, I dont think most people even know the science behind it and blindly follow ignorance and knee jerk reactions.

My mother in law would stir boiling water with a spoon and put it in the dish washer.
Julia lived to be 91 years old cross contaminating food.
