Warm drinks in the winter and cold drinks in the summer where I live.
For some reason I have a hankering for a Mojito.
For tomatoes it would be a tojito.

While this isn't about drip irrigation - it is about irrigation. When we visited El Paso and Anthony New Mexico - the farms there were irrigated from deep ditches off of the Rio Grande River. When I think of El Paso, my first thought is hot and dry. The water in those ditches was cold - very cold in 85F degree weather. I talked to one farmer there. I asked what he added to the soil to make it grow such beautiful cotton plants - his answer, "Water". I wish I could go back and see how farming is done there.

Sorry if that was too off-topic.

I would warm the water too. I do it myself until the weather starts warming up.

The faster water evaporates the colder it can get like in evaporative cooling.
This may or may not explain the irrigation ditch water being cold.
I have no idea but I do know you can make ice in the arid desert doing this.

I do love me a good mojito, but isn't this a bit off topic?

No because the tomatoes get tojitoes.
