Thanks MissS. I can handle more birds. I've still got all my feeders up and there are plenty of flowers available. They won't go hungry. Donna

Default Mexican Sage and Hot Pink Shrimp Plant

The hummers went wild for the sage this year. Both hummers and butterflies like the shrimp plant. I have only two hummers left...the rest have flown away (to Central America?). Salvia leucantha and Justicia brandegeana.

Donna, Texas Gulf Coast

P.S. I planted 24 Dutch Iris bulbs and 36 freesia corms yesterday.....now I wait until February-March. Sowing nasturtium and fragrant sweet pea seeds today. Putting the nasturtium in hanging baskets.

Up at cottage today, I saw 3 monarchs visiting the butterfly bush and tropical butterfly weed, which is still blooming heavily. They better get on their way. Possible frost in a couple of days.

I noticed one of my tropical butterfly weeds was aphidless, so I grabbed some seed pods. Will grow next year to see if it was just an oversight on the aphids part.

Blue sky vine reaches 50 foot.Purple bleeding hearts, reaches forever. The sky vine is messy,I chop it every year to ground, after mangoes, and lychees are done flowering. They are attractants for 🐝 bees, fluttering hummingbirds, both sheds are covered for temp control.

No bees left on mine anymore but the hummingbirds are still visiting the cuphea here. I have the plants under cover so they don't get water logged. Eventually they will succumb to the cold and I will trim them before I bring them into the garage for the winter.

How tall do your cuphea get to be growing in the ground? I always have mine in pots that I can raise off the ground because of predators.

Default Cuphea height, fruit from Passion Vine

I actually measured the cuphea...it's 40 inches high.

The "sterile" Passiflora "Inspiration," which is dying back for the winter, finally dropped a couple of fruit a few days ago. You'd have to eat a lot of the fruit to get full.
