Hi Tormato,
Are there 50 people participating? I am packaging up seeds from the variety you approved. If needed, I have a lot of other seeds, enough of several newer types for 50 packets. If needed, let me know and I can do another category if it helps.

It's still early, and there's no way around the procrastinators, but only about 1/4 of the Fifty is filled at this time. In reality, every year is different, I just have to find the best way to work out each swap.

If people have lots of seeds that they have no use for, and it's varieties that very few people have or have heard of, you may send it in. It can either be in multiple packs, or in a single bulk pack for each variety. While it's unknown how smooth this year will go at this time, if I have plenty of time I can bag up what's in demand. If not, I should easily have time over the course of an entire year, to bag it up for a 2018 MMMM.

There also seems to be some procrastinating over at the master wish list google/doc in the Wanted forum. It's stuck at 9 sign-ups. You don't have to come up with wish list varieties yet, but it would be nice to see more usernames (at the end of the lists), in order to get a grasp on the potential size of the swap.

If not, let us know which ones are still open

Where are we at with Nifty Fifty? Should we send in our Fifty seed packs, or are you still waiting for more participants? Thanks!

Yes, waiting for more participants.

NF participants may send in more than one variety if they'd like. Instead of getting one variety from each participant, those that send in 2 (or more?), may get 2 or more back from a single source. While it likely will not go as smoothly as planned, NF participants may also get varieties from other sources in the swap, where perhaps 20+ packs of seeds of a variety are sent in. As long as varieties are relatively new to the MMMM, and there are more than 10 packs of any variety, it makes it easier for me. (I think).

OK, I have my agreed-to Nifty 50 variety and two other varieties that I'll be sending in 50 of. Total of 3 varieties for ya. I've already PM'ed you the name of those other varieties.

Weird wet weather prevented me from getting 50 packs of seeds for a single variety this year, though I had planned to participate in the Nifty Fifty. (Some of the bagged blossoms rotted and did not set fruit. The bee populations here are great, but because of that, I don't collect seeds from unbagged blossoms.) I sent in 10-21 packs of 13 varieties instead. Maybe next year...

Completed germination test on both varieties that I am sending. Will mail pkg tomorrow or Monday if I don't make it to the PO in time.

Tormato - how did the Nifty 50 do this year? Are there any plans for doing this another year?

Any plans for a different swap?
